Weekly Photo Challenge: Home

This week’s Photo Challenge is a good one… Home.

Home can be so many things. Is it where you are now? Or is where you are now just a “place”, and home evokes something special in your mind of a place you once knew or a place you hope to someday find? Or is it not a static place at all but rather something you can find anywhere, as long as whomever or whatever matters the most is with or around you?

Here are a few thoughts on “home” that came to mind while taking photographs after our recent storm.

Home

Home: New England, after the blizzard, a classic way to identify the part of the country where I live.

Home: A house that was close to my heart during my childhood, a place that I love to share with my family now.

Home: a shelter during the literal storms, and a place to keep us together as we journey through life.

Home: it would just be a random building without the four people I love most in this world to fill it.

  1. Crazy as it sounds, I don’t think I’ve found my home yet.
But I love the look of yours, and the photo you chose to capture it. <3

  2. Nothing like a good old New England blizzard to make you feel snug and warm at home.

    • That’s for sure! And this was certainly one to remember. :)

      • Yes! I only vaguely remember the Blizzard of ’78 when I was growing up in CT, I wonder how “Nemo” will compare. Don’t even get me started on this whole naming winter storms thing though :-D

        • I don’t remember much from that age, but the Blizzard of ’78 was among my memories of that time. :) My dad says there was more snow with this storm; the impact of now vs then appears so far to be mixed. It was increased back then due to less accuracy in weather reporting but increased now due to the bigger impact in urban areas with this one (where does one put this volume of snow when cleared off city streets? As just one example, back with that storm they dumped it by the truckload in whatever lake/river was handy, they can’t do that now…)

Names- I think it’s ridiculous. Naming the storms was intended to get us to take them more seriously. Nemo?!

  6. I also did a snowy home theme. Great Minds :)
We didn’t get as much snow as you, but still the most we have seen in 5 years.
