Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details
The theme for this week’s Photo Challenge is “Lost in the Details.”
The big picture here is still pretty cold and snowy outside, burning lots of oil; coats, boots and gloves still overflowing in my entryway… and whispers of a large nor’easter again approaching New England. (Not blizzard caliber, mind you!)
However… In seeking out some details… I’ve heard the first geese honking their way back to our town and seen them in a nearby river, and amidst the melting snow along the front of my house, the first signs of spring!
Vinca turning green even before the snow melts away… soon little purple flowers will arrive, among the first of our spring flowers!
Although I didn’t ultimately go that way, this challenge gave me a lot to think about when it came to life, too, and for several days it was on my mind to use my photos to illustrate more of a life/big picture kind of question? dilemma? that I often think about in life with the complex issues and decisions I face. The big picture vs. the details encompasses a lot. What is our focus? Too much focus on some on the details, and other parts of the “big picture” of life can be lost, distorting perspective, priorities and our perception of reality for the positive or negative. Failing to notice the details at the most important times result in special moments in life that are worth savoring being missed, or the loss of important information about things that we may really need to know. How do we know what to make our focus? When life gets complicated do we cope by managing one little bit at a time, or by stepping back and trying to just oversee the big picture?
Right now, seeking out and finding those tiny, emerging bits of spring: promise of the season to come though the “big picture” is still winter, was exactly the sort of detail I needed today. 🙂

Great to see that spring is emerging where you are! We’re starting to see the lavender bud here in Sequim!

Yay!!!! about the green poking through. Happiness! And I like the way you tied in Life Thoughts with the picture of the seasons changing, and kept on track with both the Challenge and your overall blog.
Greetings from Maryland.
Thank you so much for your kind words. 🙂 I enjoy using the challenges to tie together all those pieces!

Love these photos 🙂
Thought of you when I was dogwalking this afternoon in the cold snow flurries, lots of birds in the trees of the park, screaming their heads off because it’s supposed to be warmer. 😀
Haha! Yes, I can see that! I imagine the newly returned ducks and geese around here aren’t happy about the snow here either. My town is on the edge of 3-6″ and 6-9″ of snow for tonight into tomorrow. Hmmmmmph.
Blech. Ready for this winter to be over!
I like what you said about how the challenge made you think about how we view our lives…big picture or details…so true!
I’m in New England too…just the other day I was looking at the tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths coming up…not so now…buried again!
Thank you!
Yes, everything is buried again pretty good. Snow is finally starting to lighten up but we’ve got close to a foot out there. Nothing like the 3′ the blizzard gave us, but the blizzard also broke the snowblower. 😉
Oh-oh…no snowblower to deal with this? It’s heavy stuff…I’ve already done some shovelling today…:-)
